Swank Sailor Hotel
The Jane-
From the owners of The Bowery Hotel comes The Jane NYC. It’s geared towards young travelers, with not a lot of cash. The hotel used to be a shack up for sailors in the 1920s- and has been restored as such. All of the rooms are cabin style, just like they were when sailors stayed there: and that means cabin SIZE. 150 of the hotel’s 200 rooms are just 50 sq ft the remaining 50 are 250 sq. ft. The head is down the hall. NONE of the rooms have their own bathroom. While they do squeeze in 23” TVs to all the rooms, the storage is all built in, so you can imagine what it’s like to open a drawer to get dressed.
Nonetheless the hotel was beautifully redone and many of the rooms have unobstructed water views. Most importantly, the small rooms go for $99 dollars a night! So it’s sort of like a cool hostel, that also happened to host Opening Ceremony’s CFDA afterpary.
