Local Artist: Matt O.

Hampton, NH-
After learning composition through piano lessons and playing the guitar, Matt, “Moss Dub” found a midi-interface, figured out how to use his MacBook Pro, and bought himself a bass. Jose Gonzalez composed his first songs in the same way- recording all he could play into the Mac program Garageband.
But now Matt is able to lay out percussion and has become his own band. Creating reggae-inspired tracks, he sent them out to a group in Oakland, California, “Clear Conscience” in hopes of just being recognized. The group already has three albums available on iTunes, but they kept asking for more and more Matt’s tracks.
Now, after agreeing and composing 15 tracks for Clear Conscience, his instrumentals are being matched with vocals at Laughing Tiger Music Production Studios. The band is working on their new album “On The Rocks.” Every track’s instrumentals are played by Matt. The producers who are fiddling with the knobs and buttons at Laughing Tiger have worked with Santana, Jack Johnson, T.I., Al Green, and others.
There will be 1,000 copies of the new album released on April 20, 2009, and pre-orders are being taken now. You can preview one of Matt’s songs for Clear Conscience, called “No-Gunshot” below. Think Sublime like songs.
